The Book Center of China in Peru was built under the guidance of the State Council Information Office of China. It was jointly established by the China International Publishing Group and National Library of Peru. The first of its kind in South America, many believe this initiative will increase Peruvian people's understanding of China.
Nearly one hundred guests in political, cultural, press and publication circles from China and Peru attended the opening ceremony.
"China is a big country, with a large population and profound culture. China is developing rapidly while actively guiding the process of globalization," said Pablo Alejo, National Library of Peru.
"And the opening of the Book Center of China can enable Peruvian people to have a better understanding of China and China 's admirable five thousand years of civilization."
"The opening of the Book Center of China plays a crucial role to enhance cultural exchanges between China and Peru. It provides a platform for us to be able to have in-depth exploration and research of Chinese culture. This is very important for us. I think this is a new milestone in cultural exchanges between our two countries," said Ana Castillo, Deputy Minister of Culture, Peru.
