AASF Championships: Xu Jiayu grabs fourth gold medal in Tokyo

We hop in the pool for the final day of action from the 2016 Asian Swimming Championships. China, would have a solid outing in Tokyo, led by young stars, like Xu Jiayu, who was looking for his fourth gold medal at the event as he took to the water in the men's 100 meter backstroke.

Xu had grabbed victories, in the 50 and 200 metre backstrokes, and the 4x100 medley relay.

And the Chinese cruises to another win in the 100 in 53.02 seconds, beating Li Guangyuan into silver. 

In the 200 meter IM, China’s Wang Shun and Japan’s Daiya Seto would be neck-and-neck in the final stretch, but the Chinese finishes first in a time of 1 minute, 56.66 seconds to win gold and set a new meet record. Seto gets silver. 

The men’s 50-meter freestyle is also a tight contest between a Chinese and Japanese swimmer. Yu Hexin and Katsumi Nakamura both finish in a meet record of 22.03 seconds to share the gold.

He Jianbin, Lin Yongqing, Liu Zhaochen, and Yu Hexin would represent China in the men's 4x100 meter freestyle relay. The hosts from Japan are in front after the first three swimmers. But China's anchor Yu Hexin would make up that ground, and overtake the opposition leading his team to gold in a time of 3 minutes, 16.37 seconds. Japan earn the silver. 

China would manage a 1-2 finish in the women's 200 meter backstroke. Chen Jie and Liu Yaxin claim gold and silver respectively, with both beating the old meet record. 

And China's 4x100 meter medley team of Fu Yuanhui, Shi Jinglin, Zhang Yufei, Zhu Menghui would grab silver, as they watch Japan claim gold in a time of 3 minutes, 57.97 seconds.
