At least 91 people are dead and more than 150 others are injured after an express train derailed on Sunday in India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh. The accident took place at around half-past three in the morning.
Officials say some 14 carriages of the Indore-Patna Express ran off the tracks. Most of its passengers were asleep at the time. The death toll may still rise as many of the injured are in serious condition.
The cause of the accident is still unknown and a probe has been ordered. State-owned train operator Indian Railways says the families of those who died in the accident will be given about 75-hundred US dollars each. Injured passengers will receive 900 dollars.
