Chinese President Xi Jinping has delivered a keynote speech at the APEC CEO Summit. Xi spoke about the challenges and risks facing the global economy and development in the Asia-Pacific region. He said Asia-Pacific countries are still the driving force of global economic growth, and was essential to build a integrated and open economy in the region.
“In face of risks and challenges, all sides should uphold a partnership spirit of sharing mutual concerns and promoting win-win cooperation, enhance coordination on macro-economic policies, adopt innovative economic growth patterns, and build an open world economy. In this way, we can achieve a strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth,” Xi said.
Xi also proposed to build an interconnected network covering the whole Asian-Pacific region, as inter-connectivity was an important measure to unleash the growth potential.
The CEO Summit began on Thursday, and discussions on various ways to seek better economic growth will continue. APEC leaders such as Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong have already addressed the event.
