Senior officials from China and France agreed during a meeting in Paris to work more closely to develop clean energy, especially nuclear power. We have this report.

Chinese Vice Premier Ma Kai says the reinforced partnership between China and France has resulted in significant gains in the energy sector.

"Both sides agreed to accelerate an effective partnership between the 'One Belt, One Road' initiative and to continue to expand cooperation in big projects including in the fields of nuclear power, renewable energy and green industry.//The project package of the Hinkley Point nuclear power plant signed by China and France shows how the two countries have made substantive steps in third-party markets. Both sides decided to push forward a review of general design standards and aim for new breakthroughs in Asian and African markets."Said Chinese Vice Premier Ma Kai.

French Finance Minister Michel Sapin believes the relationship will also help combat the effects of global warming.

"We had an intense discussion over issues of sustainable development. The nuclear energy will allow us to promote a development that is resilient in the face of climate change. It will also help us to meet the objectives we set in Paris climate conference. This is an area in which Paris has an undeniable role to play that is recognised by all." French Finance Minister Michel Sapin said.

"Our cooperation in development of the nuclear sector is not only based on the basis of investment but also on an important recognition of what China represents in the restructuring of France's nuclear networks." said French Industry Minister Christophe Sirugue.

China and France also agreed to cooperate in the area of green finance to support the development of these projects.
