Higgins was looking to lift his second consecutive trophy, after winning another inivtation tournament – the China Championship last week. O’Sullivan, meanwhile, was seeking his first title of the season.

O’Sullivan was looking to keep his winning streak at the Champion of Champions intact– he was a winner in 2013 and ’14, but didn’t compete last year. He would have his work cut out for him, in the form of the 4-time world champion Higgins in the best of 19 Final.

But it was Higgins who found his form first.

The Scot has a break of 75 and pockets the 1st frame with ease.

O’Sullivan clawed back in the 2nd. Nailing this long red.

The Rocket went on to pot in the blue en route to a 69-19 win.

The two would split the first 8 frames.

Higgins got a good chance in the 9th when O’Sullivan misses this brown.

But the Scotsman would also misfire on the same brown.

The Rocket would refocus and takes the frame 82-48.

The Englishman leading 5-4 after the afternoon session.

But Higgins got the better of the evening exchanges, levelling the match at 6-6.

Although O’Sullivan once again levels the match 7-7, he scored just one point in the next three frames, as Higgins swept to victory with runs of 76, 86, 40 and 58, and won his second consecutive title after claiming the China Championship.
