The second stage of Tour of Taihu Lake in China took the riders from Changxing Government Square to Huzhou and it would be the seven time stage winner from 2015, Jakub Mareczko of Italy proving the fastest.

The second leg of the competition measures 139-kilometres.

And early on a group of six riders would break away from the peloton, but only three would remain in front with 48 kilometers to go in the stage. American Alder Martz, Jozef Palcak of Slovakia, and Mexico's Rene Corella.

With 30-kilometres to go there is a nasty crash in the peloton that brings down several riders, but thankfully there are no serious injuries.

Meanwhile at the front Vitalii Popkov and Corella exchange heated words and perhaps the finger there.

Russia's Popkov takes the lead and survives until 5-kilometres to go, but when it starts to rain near the finish in Huzhou, Oleksandr Golovash would go to the front only to crash with just 3.5-kilometres remaining.

The finish comes down to a sprint and it would be Mareczko of Wiler Triestina crossing first in a time of three hours, eight minutes, and five seconds to secure the leader's orange jersey. Emils Liepins of Latvia is second and Nicolas Marini third.
