China has reiterated its stance that foreign entities have no right to meddle in the affairs of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The Chinese Foreign Ministry was responding to the US State Department, which had said it was disappointed by recent developments in the Hong Kong Legislative Council.

"Hong Kong is a special administrative region under the Chinese central government, and its affairs fall within China's domestic domain. Interpreting articles of laws by the National People's Congress is a legal right entitled by the SAR's Basic Law. Implementing the responsibilities stipulated under the Constitution is a total domestic affair within China's sovereignty, and no foreign countries have the right to intervene in it," said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang.

The foreign ministry spokesperson said some separatists are seeking foreign support for "independence", creating a threat to the "One Country-Two Systems" policy. He said other countries should honor their pledges to stay out of the affairs of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and ignore any request for support from separatists.
