Former Saenuri Party chairman Kim Moo-sung held an emergency press conference on Monday, calling for embattled South Korean President Park Geun-hye to leave the party.
Kang Seok-ho, another non-Park faction lawmaker, announced his resignation as the supreme member of the Saenuri Party leadership. Kang demanded an overhaul of the ruling party and a new leadership, calling on the President to distance herself from state affairs.
Earlier, Senior non-Park faction members held a separate meeting, asking Seanuri chairman Lee Jung-hyun to step down. Lee refused and said he wanted to remain in the post to help Park.
