Guo's team has hired a crew to search for Guo and to retrieve his boat. Four French sailors and three others from the fishing ship "Aunt Betty" have joined the hunt.
The crew went on a late night search-and-rescue mission on Thursday local time in Hawaii. But there was no sign of the sailor. In less than a week, the team is expected to find Guo's drifting trimaran the "Qingdao, China" some thousand nautical miles away.
The 51-year-old went missing on October 25th. Guo was attempting to sail from San Francisco to Shanghai in 20 days or less for a new solo trans-Pacific world record.
