To Europe for football from the UEFA Champions league as the titleholders Real Madrid travelled to Poland to face Legia Warsaw in Group F. Two weeks ago the champs crushed lowly Legia 5-1 in Madrid, but this would be a much different game, not least of all because it was played in an empty stadium, and it would take a late strike from Mateo Kovacic to save the visitors some major embarassment.
It's a surreal situation at the Polish Army Stadium but Real certainly seem unaffected early as Gareth Bale delivers a thunderous volley to the back of the net just 57 seconds after the opening whistle for the fastest goal ever scored by a Madrid player in the champions league.
In the 35th minute, the team with the most champions league trophies makes it 2-0 through Karim Benzema who finishes off a Balke cutback. 2-0 Real.
But Legia hit back with a brilliant piece of skill and finish from Vadis Odjidja five minutes before halftime,
Then Miroslav Radovic completes a shock comeback by the hosts with a toe poke into the bottom corner in the 58th miunte and it's 2-2.
But they're not done there as the hosts take the lead in the 83rd minute when Thibault Moulin blasts in off the post. Not sure who's cheering.
However two minutes later Kovacic rifles in the equaliser to salvage a 3-3 draw and save an embarassing result for the champs.
