Vietnam says its first case of microcephaly in a baby from its central region, is 'much likely to have been caused by the Zika virus.' The four-month-old girl from Dak Lak province has a head smaller than babies of the same sex and age. Her microcephaly was first detected on October 14th.
A Vietnamese health agency says the condition must be related to Zika. Specimens taken from her and her 23-year-old mother are being tested in Japan. The young woman had a fever and hives when she was pregnant. To date, Vietnam has detected nine Zika patients. Five are from Ho Chi Minh City, which has declared the Zika outbreak at the communal level.
