Hung Hsiu-chu, the leader of Taiwan's Kuomintang party, and her delegation are about to begin a visit to the Chinese Mainland, which will last until November 3rd. It will be Hung's first visit to the mainland since she became head of the KMT in March.
The trip aims to promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations. Hung's first stop is Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu province. She will meet with Communist Party leader Xi Jinping in Bejing on Tuesday. Hung will also attend a Cross-Straits Forum.
