Russia denies any involvement in Wednesday’s deadly air strike on a Syrian school in the rebel-held Idlib province.
“It’s a lie. Russia has nothing to do with this terrible tragedy, this attack. We demand maximum attention on this tragedy and an immediate investigation,” said Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Maria Zakharova.
U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon demanded an immediate probe into the attack. The EU has slapped more sanctions on Syria. This comes a day after the U.S. and Britain said they expected an assault to drive ISIL out of Raqqa, the terrorist group’s stronghold in Syria, within the next few weeks.
