Afghan and Sudanese migrants from the Calais camp continue to arrive at various reception centers in eastern France. They left the camp early on Wednesday morning as French officials declared it completely clear. The first group arrived in a small village near Nancy, Neuves Maison, while the second went to Nancy itself.

A third group arrived in nearby Luneville. A fourth group of 17 Sudanese migrants arrived in the city of Strasbourg in the early evening. The group was welcomed by senior government officials and the migrants were shown to their rooms by representatives of a housing charity.

“Today, everyone will have his own individual room, as well as a social follow up. That means they will have personnel around to help them undertake the necessary steps in order to obtain the administrative papers for the regularization of their situation,” said Michael Schmidt, president of Horizon Amitie.

"When I came to Calais, I've seen refugee people sleeping in the street and it’s horrible, and people who are 15 or 16-years-old from Afghanistan, from Sudan, from Syria, from Libya, in addition to Eritrea. A lot of foreign people are living in the streets. I care about children, because children who don’t have a family because of war find themselves in the streets in a very difficult situation," said Sudanese migrant Ibrahim Ahmed.

“It’s very emotional for me. The difference is like night and day. I’m received very well. I am very happy,” said Sudanese migrant Mohamed Ahmet.
