As part of its fight against corruption, China has stepped up its 'Fox Hunt' campaign to track down wanted officials and executives "hiding" overseas. Thanks to the operation, China has grabbed more than 630 fugitives from nearly 70 countries and regions around the world in the last ten months.
Among them, 16 were listed in an INTERPOL China "Red Notice", 50 are accused of committing occupational crimes, and more than 30 were suspected of smuggling. Nearly one-third of the fugitives will be charged for cases involving almost $1.5 million, and nearly 60 face allegations involving over $15 million.
Around 50 of the suspects had been at large for more than five years, while 17 had been sought for over a decade. The Ministry of Public Security says China will continue its efforts to hunt these "foxes" overseas, through intensified international cooperation.
