Italy's Marcello Lippi has been appointed coach of China's national football team. The 68-year-old former professional football manager and player is no stranger to China.

Between 2012 and 2014, Lippi coached Chinese football club Guangzhou Evergrande, claiming Super League titles in three consecutive years.

This appointment comes after the resignation of former coach Gao Hongbo. He announced his resignation after China lost two-zero to Uzbekistan in the World Cup qualifier earlier this month.
