The Philippines has been actively promoting bilateral trade with China after Rodrigo Duterte took office earlier this year. China is the Philippines' second largest trading partner and its biggest export market.
Last year, bilateral trade exceeded 45 billion US dollars, up 2.7 percent from the previous year. China imports a number of products from the Philippines, including semiconductors and agricultural products, like bananas, coconuts, and rice.
China's main exports to the Philippines include transport equipment, construction machinery, electronics, and garments.
