Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet with his Philippine counterpart Rodrigo Duterte today in Beijing. The two are scheduled to have bilateral talks and witness the signing of a series of cooperation agreements.
Duterte is accompanied by a big business delegation. On his arrival, Duterte told reporters that his country needs Beijing's help to develop the economy.
He described the ruling by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague over the South China Sea as a piece of paper. Duterte has said the Philippines wants a "soft landing" regarding the South China Sea issue.
