American superstar Usher, British singer Charlie XCX and Cantopop queen Coco Lee performed (during a fashion show) at Shanghai Oriental Sports Center over the weekend. The Fashion Rocks concert, one of the major events of the ongoing Shanghai Fashion Week, was for the first time held in Asia.
Established in 2003, Fashion Rocks has featured A-List artists including Beyonce, Grace Jones, Robbie Williams and David Bowie over the years along with upscale brands like Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Giorgio Armani.
This year, SANKUANZ became the first Chinese brand to be featured at Fashion Rocks. Charlie XCX was wearing the latest SANKUANZ collection during his performance that included the songs like "Boom Clap" and "Fancy". Hong Kong-born American singer Coco Lee was another highlight.
"I'm really excited to be here, this is my first show in Shanghai, and yeah I love the collection, I'm such a fan and I'm so happy to be wearing to work right now," said Charlie XCX.
"I'm absolutely honored to host and perform on the stage tonight, it's going to be great show. Hope everybody is looking forward to it," said Coco Lee.
Despite the star-studded lineup, it was Usher who brought the house down. It was the second time the 8-time Grammy winner has participated in Fashion Rocks after doing a New York show in 2014. He belted out crowd favorites like "Yeah" and "Confession".
Pei Pei and He Sui, two of China's top models, sashayed down the runway during Usher's performance.
Shanghai Fashion Week continues until Wednesday. About 90 percent of the brands taking part in the show are Chinese. Shanghai Fashion Week's catwalk shows are not open to the public, but there will pop-up stores around the city.
