China and the Philippines are now aiming at further improving bilateral relations. Total trade volume between the two countries hit $ 45.7 billion in 2015, a 2.7% increase on the previous year.
One of the focuses of this visit is economic partnership, as the Philippines' new administration has issued a 10-point socio-economic agenda aimed at improving the business environment and boosting economic development.
China says it is willing to actively participate in this development by getting involved with trade and economy, industry and infrastructure. President Duterte is prioritising his fight against drug-related crime, and both countries have vowed to strengthen cooperation in this field.
