Chairman of China's Wanda stays on top

The 18th edition of the annual Rich List by the Hurun Research Institute shows there are 2056 individuals with personal wealth of at least two billion Chinese yuan, or 0.3 billion US dollars. According to the latest ranking, Wang Jianlin, chairman of China's Wanda Group, remains the richest individual in China, with personal wealth of 32 billion US dollars. Next is Ma Yun, founder and executive chairman of Alibaba Group, with personal wealth of 30.5 billion US dollars. And then comes Ma Huateng, founder and president of Tencent, at 24.5 billion US dollars.

Besides hundreds of new faces compared to last year's list, there are 703 entrepreneurs who have seen an increase of their wealth. The wealthiest 45 of them have even seen their riches double.

The report shows the financial investment market is the fastest growing wealth market in China, providing the sharpest increase of rich individuals. There's also increases in rich individuals from other booming industries, such as IT, entertainment, and new energy, while the number of people in real estate and manufacturing has witnessed a decline.
