Following his state visit to Bangladesh, President Xi Jinping heads to Goa in India on Saturday to attend the BRICS summit. The summit brings together the world's leading emerging economies - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

As India gets ready to host the event, CCTV correspondent Shweta Bajaj travelled to the resort state of Goa to find out more about preparations and what's likely to be on the agenda.
The Indian state of Goa might be known as a tourist destination but it's getting ready to host the world's biggest economies for the BRICS summit. The grouping that consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa form the biggest and some of the fastest emerging economies in the world. The leaders of these nations will discuss issues of importance including trade, bilateral ties, terrorism and how to increase people-to people contact spread of the next 2 days. BRICS nations come from various parts of the world and geographically are located far from each other but similar challenges bind them. Economically many of the economies are facing a slowdown, but the aim would be to increase trade and benefit from each other.
The Indian prime minister who will soon host these leaders took to social media and said he looks forward to his discussion with Chinese President Xi Jinping, calling the country a key partner. He added that emphasis will be on trade, people to people contact and discussing key global and regional challenges. India will also host the BIMSTEC Summit which also includes Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
The state of Goa which is known for its idyllic setting has been turned into a fortress. A multi-tier security apparatus has been deployed for the BRICS Summit. The arrangements have been reviewed by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval along with senior navy and coastguard officials and other agencies. Intelligence agencies have warned of a possible terror attack on the BRICS summit in Goa. Top class measures have been put into place to counter any such threat in which some of the world’s top leaders will be in attendance. In order to prevent any attack from the seas, which has been the most favored way for terrorists to attack India, the Indian navy and coastguard will ensure the security of entire Goa coastline.
Brics economies together form a massive 42 percent of the world population and has a combined GDP of over 16 trillion US dollars. The world will be watching as the leaders of these countries meet here in Goa and discuss not just issues of bilateral importance but also issues that shape the world at large.
