The Chinese foreign ministry is ready to welcome Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, who according to media reports is planning a state visit to China soon.

"We appreciate President Duterte for prioritizing the relationship between China and the Philippines. We believe high-level talks will strengthen our cooperation, and improve regional peace and stability. Both countries are willing to push bilateral ties forward. We are willing to expand practical cooperation with the Philippines in various areas, which will benefit the people on both sides," said Geng Shuang, spokesperson of Chinese foreign ministry.
