Full coverage: 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Red Army's Long March
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the 12,500 kilometer military maneuver of the Red Army back in the 1930s. Commemorating the anniversary, a Suzhou embroidery has been hand-made and exhibited to retell the story.
The embroidery is made out of a famous painting called 'The reunion of three major red army forces'. 16 female embroiderers have spent nearly a year putting it together, using more than 1,000 colors of silk thread. They say the figures' facial expression is the most difficult part as sometimes one single piece of silk thread needs to be split into 64 parts to make the picture. The embroidery is now on display at the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution in Beijing.
