Many areas in north and northeast China have been hit by heavy rains and a strong cold front.

Rain and sleet have lashed northeast China’s Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces, with temperatures having dropped sharply by more than 10 Celsius.

Beijing also saw a chilly weekend, with strong winds and heavy rainfall hitting the city. North of Beijing, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was hit with continuous snowfall that resulted in traffic blocks in some areas. Local police rescued at least 24 people stranded in snow-covered roads in the Xilin Gol League.
