While the National Day holiday is a golden week for vacation, it's also a time to remember what led to the birth of the People's Republic of China. The Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution is featuring an exhibition on the 'Long March' of the Red Army, 80 years ago.

On Saturday, Day One of the holiday, over 10,000 people visited the museum to learn more about the "Long March". The Long March was a strategic retreat of the Red Army of the Communist Party of China, to evade the rival Kuomintang forces. Soldiers fought and starved, yet persisted.

The exhibition opened last month and runs through the end of October. It sees over six thousand visitors every day, with bigger numbers expected during the National Day holiday.
