Full coverage: 67th Chinese National Day

Today marks the 67th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. A grand flag-raising ceremony was staged at Beijing's Tian'anmen Square this morning.

Thirty-six soldiers paraded in formation as they carried the national flag around the square before it was raised to the tune of China's national anthem.

More than 100,000 people from across the country gathered to watch the ceremony. And in other parts of the country, celebratory activities are also being held. National Day marks the beginning of a seven-day holiday in China.
