Indian authorities have issued an alert in various states that share a border with Pakistan and in areas close to the "Line of Control" dividing Kashmir.

The alert comes following Indian claims of "surgical attacks" by the Indian army inside the area of Kashmir controlled by Pakistan.

Officials in New Delhi now fear of retaliatory attacks from Pakistan, who have themselves rejected the Indian claims about the strikes. Tension between India and Pakistan has escalated as civilian protests continue in Indian-controlled Kashmir.
