Simona Halep would meet Madison Keys in the quarter-finals of the Wuhan Open. A victory for the Romanian would not only see her make it to the last four, but also earn her a spot in the WTA's season-ending tour in Singapore. This is the fifth meeting between the two players -- Keys not having any success, as Halep has managed to win all their previous encounters.

The Romanian would fall behind 2-love in the opener, but is able to break her opponent on two occasions and is serving to take the set -- controlling this point and taking the frame 6-4.
Halep would continue to play well in the second -- as she is able to volley this for a winner.
The Romanian is able to grab a straight sets win 6-4, 6-2 the final, and move into the semi-finals, and also book a spot in the year-ending tournament.
Kvitova beats Konta 6-3 6-4 to reach the semi-finals of the Wuhan Open
Also in action would be 2014 winner Petra Kvitova against Johanna Konta.
The lanky lefthander, Kvitova was able to grab the opener when the Brit cannot control this serve. The Czech wins it 6-3.
The pair would be on serve in the second, but Kvitova would have triple break point in the fifth game, and despite running around on this point, fires a cross-court winner that helps her take a 3-2 edge.
And that break of serve in the frame would be the difference as the 14th seed is able to smash her way to victory 6-3, 6-4 and progress to the semis.
