China has expressed its support of the Philippine government's anti-drug campaign.  Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has been criticized by western powers including the United States and the European Union for using heavy handed tactics to crack down on the illegal sale of drugs.  

China's Foreign Ministry said China respects Duterte's decision to make fighting drug crimes a domestic priority and said Beijing is willing to help. 

"The Chinese government understands and supports the Philippine government's policy decision to make fighting drug crimes a priority. We're willing to cooperate with President Duterte on joint anti-drug operations," said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Geng Shuang.
