Government, FARC rebels sign historic peace accord

In Colombia, where the government and the country's largest rebel movement have signed a historic peace accord. This ends a half-century-old war that killed a quarter of a million.

President Juan Manuel Santos and Rodrigo Londoño, also known as Timochenko, leader of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia or FARC, signed the agreement in the city of Cartagena.

The agreement has nearly 300 pages and was signed before a crowd of two thousand five hundred foreign dignitaries and special guests.
