Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said his government is willing to work with the US to remove the Islamic State group from its de-facto capital, Raqqa in northern Syria.

But he added only on condition that Syrian-Kurdish forces be excluded from any of the military operations.

Erdogan also indicated that Ankara could contribute to the seizure of Iraq's second largest city, Mosul from the control of ISIL.

Turkey sent tanks, warplanes and special operations forces into that region last month. In what it called "Operation Euphrates Shield", Turkish troops fought both ISIL and Syrian-Kurdish militias.
