Syrian army is continuing a major offensive to take rebel-held areas of Aleppo. Syrian and Russian warplanes mounted a new wave of airstrikes on rebel-held areas on Saturday, killing at least 25 people.
The operation was announced late Thursday. It came days after the collapse of a ceasefire, which top US and Russia diplomats had been trying to restore at the UN General Assembly. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov blames the US for failing to separate moderate rebel groups from jihadist group, the Al-Nusra Front.
Meanwhile, the UN says aid deliveries have resumed in Syria. Tens of thousands in a besieged town near Damascus received supplies. Plans to get aid to Aleppo are being deliberated.
