In Beijing, officials of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Chinese Ministry of Finance and Beijing Municipal government have held a ground breaking ceremony for the Bank's permanent headquarters.

The headquarters will be located in the northern part of Beijing, between the Olympic Forest Park and the iconic Bird's nest Stadium. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of the 2019.

President of the Bank Jin Liqun, China's Finance minister Lou Jiwei and the Mayor of Beijing Wang Anshun attended the ceremony.

Lou said, "From this point of departure, we hope the AIIB will play a positive role in the infrastructure development connectivity, as well as in the regional integration of Asia, by making future and long term looking strategies, developing innovative investment and financing models."
