The United Nations is looking for alternative ways to get aid to east Aleppo. The UN had hoped to send aid from Turkey into east Aleppo. That area has been encircled by combatants since July.
The Syrian army has announced a new offensive aimed at retaking all of Aleppo. Syrian and Russian aircraft restarted strikes on Friday. The UN is considering sending aid on a much longer route through Damascus.
The plan depends on the security situation on the ground. In the meantime, 40 trucks are still sitting at the Turkish-Syrian border.
