Typhoon Meranti also has disrupted transportation major airlines in China have cancelled flights in and out of east China's Xiamen city and south China's Jieyang city. China's Southern Airlines cancelled all flights in and out of Xiamen from 8 p.m. yesterday until noon today.

A number of train services heading to Xiamen are also suspended. Ferry service from Xiamen city and Kinmen Island is suspended too. Expressways in three provinces are affected as well -- East China's Zhejiang and Fujian provinces, as well as south China's Guangdong province. There's been a slighter impact on the expressways surrounding Shanghai. Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution on slippery roads.
