2016 Rio Paralympics: 17-year-old breaks Paralympics record to win gold

In Rio de Janeiro, the 2016 Paralympics continued on Wednesday with China extending their advantage on the medal standings. They would have 75 golds at the end of the day, leading second placed Great Britain by 32.

China's Zhou Xia causes one of the biggest upsets of the Rio Paralympics athletics competition. In the women's 100m T35 final, Zhou, beating Australian world record holder Isis Holt. 

The 17-year-old crosses the line in 13.66 seconds to edge out Holt by nine hundredths of a second at the Olympic Stadium.

WEN SETS NEW WR IN WOMEN'S LONG JUMP T37

In the women's T37 long jump, China's Wen Xiaoyan finishes with a leap of 5.14 meters to set a new world record. The 18-year-old also took silver in the women's 400m T37 on Tuesday. Germany's Franziska Liebhardt grabs silver.

CLEAN SWEEP FOR CHINA IN 50m BREASTSTROKE SB2

In the pool, China's Huang Wenpan wins his third gold in Rio by smashing his own world record in the men's 50m breaststroke SB2. It's a clean sweep for China with Li Tingshen taking silver and Huang Chaowen bronze.

JIN BREAKS WR IN MEN'S 50m BREASTSTROKE SB3

In the men's 50m breaststroke SB3, China's Jin Zhipeng also sets a new world record to win gold. Jin finishes in 47.54 seconds. Miguel Luque of Spain takes silver.

CHENG PREVAILS WOMEN'S 50m BREASTSTROKE SB3

In the women's 50m breaststroke SB3 final, China's Cheng Jiao beats Ukraine's Mariia Lafina by more than three seconds to grab gold. 22-year-old Cheng also won a 150m individual medley title on Monday.

YE WINS THIRD STRAIGHT GOLD IN FENCING

In fencing, China's Ye Ruyi is looking for his third straight gold in the men's individual foil. Ye prevails in the final of category A against Hungary's Richard Osvath. The Chinese leads from the start and eases to a 15-8 victory to take the gold medal. His compatriot Sun Gang wins bronze.

FENG WINS ALL-CHINA FINAL TO TAKE GOLD

Meanwhile...Chinese fencer Feng Yanke secures gold in the men's individual foil category B, beating countryman Hu Daoliang 15-11 in the final.

RONG WINS CHINA'S SIXTH FENCING GOLD

In the latest fencing event, Rong Jing claims China's sixth wheelchair fencing gold in Rio. Rong, winning the women's individual foil category A title. The 27-year-old defeated Yu Chui Yee of Chinese Hong Kong 15-8 in the final.
