South Korean smartphone maker Samsung has excluded China from the worldwide recall of Galaxy Note7 phones. The Galaxy Note7 phones on sale in China use batteries manufactured by a local firm.
Phones sold elsewhere use batteries that have reportedly caught on fire. No battery problems have been reported in China yet. According to South Korean media, Samsung will drop its battery supplier SDI and turn to Chinese battery maker ATL. Chinese airlines have not issued rules targeting Samsung phones specifically, as carriers from other countries have done.
