Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reiterated Ankara’s commitment to eliminating the Islamic State group in Syria. He delivered the message through a video message to mark the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.
While stressing the nation’s “primary duty” is to destroy ISIL, Erdogan also indicated the government will continue to fight militant group Kurdistan Worker’s Party.
“It is our primary duty to our people, to defeat ISIL in Syria and prevent it from staging attacks in Turkey,” Erdogan said.
“We are decisive in saving Turkey from trouble by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, through collaboration with our security forces and our brothers in the region. The party doesn’t have the opportunity to resist our nation's capacity and our country’s power.”
