An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5-point-8 has hit southeastern South Korea. It occured about an hour after a magnitude 5.1 tremor was recorded.
The tremor struck on the outskirts of Gyeongju city in North Gyeongsang province at 7:44 PM local time. The epicenter was located about 9 kilometers southwest of the city. The subsequent earthquake struck the nearby region at 8:32 PM local time.
