President Rodrigo Duterte has reiterated on Saturday his administration's desire for independence in crafting foreign policy. Duterte made the statement on his return from the ASEAN summit in Laos.
He said his government believes in sovereign equality and non-interference. Duterte said he did not intend to insult US President Barack Obama during the ASEAN Summit. Prior to the summit, he accused Obama of interfering in his country's internal affairs.
