A perfume museum in Cape Town is considered the ultimate indulgence for those with a keen love for fragrance. It's the first of its kind on the continent, joining the ranks of a small number of similar museums in the world.

Its been described as a whiff of fresh air and its easy to see why, this first South African perfume museum houses a collection so valuable, its considered to be priceless

The museum was founded by Daniela Kumanov who has been collecting perfumes for the last 20 years from just about every corner of the globe

"We have a lot of exhibits from South Africa specifically,Africa and all over the world (cover cut) we've got plus minus 4500 bottles and its getting more and more everyday," Daniela Kumanov said.

Amongst the collection is this ancient Roman perfume, which is around 2000 years old and a bottle that gets its green color form radioactive uranium, safe now of course

The museum is also constantly searching for rarities to add to an already impressive collection

"We've got African culture bottles,we've got French Venetian,we've got Rene Vallick,we've got Murano bottles,Bohemian Czech Crystal and we are very proud of our KWV collection, thats a strictly South African wine company which produced 20 to 30 years ago perfumes as well," Daniela Kumanov said.

Visitors can marvel through the rich tapestry of smells and gain insight into the history and origins of perfume making

"Its absolutely incredible i never knew this actually existed until i popped in here and its so interesting and informative,we all thought perfume came from the French, now we know it didn't."

"Im really blown away,i can't believe it,just waking in here seeing the periods of history the incredible collections that Daniela and the Kumanov's have put together,is quite mind blowing, breathtaking too see."

For those who think they have what it takes, its more than just a museum as well.

The museum also allows its visitors to make their own perfume,so i wonder who i will fare.

It seems not that bad all and I may have a knack for the perfumery business.
