Many experts believe that China's Belt and Road Initiative will benefit more countries along the route and even beyond the region. The Silk Road Summit is underway in the city of Xi’an. That's where the ancient Silk Road started hundreds of years ago.
"These countries can benefit from a new model of the economic cooperation, top down, rather cooperation from the bottom up, in a sense that this cooperation will led by private sector entities, where government will play a supportive role, I think that is very different from other economic initiative that you have seen world wide where government get together that they hope the private sector follow them, that is why Belt and Road is a bottom up approach," said Hamid Rashid, chief of UN global economic monitoring unit.
"Under the silk road concept, we need to intensify the our relationship with China… and that is why we push the free trade agreement with China, by the end of this year, we hope the deals can be signed… to boost our commerce and trade relationship," said Levan Davitashvili, Georgian deputy agriculture minister.
"We have a good relation, we have 1000 Chinese companies are working in Algeria, we need more…Algeria is working with Chinese authorities to promote some projects that we can put inside this initiative, one of them is an important part of the… this will benefit African countries and the region," said Ahcene Boukhelfa, Algerian ambassador to China.
