Chinese President Xi Jinping has been welcoming world leaders to eastern China’s Hangzhou city, ahead of the G20 summit. Summit participants said they look forward to this year’s talks.

Xi and his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev say they are confident that world leaders can chart a new course for the world economy at the upcoming G20 summit. China and Kazakhstan established diplomatic ties 24 years ago. Xi said next year’s anniversary will provide an opportunity for the strategic partners to deepen bilateral coordination.

During his meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Xi said China and Indonesia have broad common interests and described bilateral relations as proceeding along a good path. Widodo said he looks forward to a successful G20 summit and described the two countries’ strategic partnership as beneficial to world peace and security.

Senegalese President Macky Sall met with President Xi at the State Guest House on the West Lake. Xi said China is willing to deepen bilateral cooperation and help Senegal industrialize and modernize its agricultural sector.

The President of Laos, Bounnhang Vorachit, called on China and Laos to build an unbreakable union of common destiny during talks with Xi. Bounnhang said Laos will continue to closely communicate with Beijing, and support China in international and regional affairs.

Brazil’s new president, Michel Temer, chose Hangzhou for his first official overseas visit. During his meeting with Xi, Temer said Brazil is willing to deepen cooperation with China in various fields, including trade, aviation, and agriculture.

Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong expressed appreciation for China’s invitation and said Singapore will continue to promote ties between China and ASEAN. Xi called for greater mutual understanding and respect on all issues related to each other’s core interests and major concerns.
