President Xi Jinping has called for solid efforts to quickly press ahead with China's planned reforms.

He made the comments on Tuesday at a top level economic meeting. The meeting passed a string of policies concerning green finance, intellectual property rights, resource allocation and poverty relief, among others.

Policymakers promised to "significantly reduce" the government's role in the direct allocation of resources. They also promised to improve intellectual property rights protection.

The policymakers said more will be done to encourage private investors to explore green businesses. A pilot damage compensation system will be rolled out in seven provinces as part of government efforts to improve the environment.
