United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has praised China's sustainable development and climate change policies. He was speaking to Chinese media at the UN headquarters Friday.
"China’s leadership steered the debate to facilitate the G20 to move from a short-term financial crisis management to a long-term development perspective," Ban said.
Ban also praised the summit’s goal of making the global economy “creative, vibrant, connected and inclusive.”He says this is in line with UN’s vision of sustainable global development. He says China's commitment to the Paris climate agreement sets a good example.
"This is the first time that G20 leaders are gathering to discuss on both sustainable development goals and climate change. How we can implement this in parallel. In that regard, Chinese leadership is very much expected," Ban said.
