The 6th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) has ended its two-day conference on Sunday in Nairobi.
During the meeting, Japan repeatedly mentioned the reform of the United Nations Security Council, as well as marine safety in the Indian and Pacific Ocean. China’s vice foreign minster criticized the move and said Japan is trying to politicize the conference.
Zhang Ming said, “All the African countries that have spoken during the meeting have objected and refused to politicize the Tokyo International Conference on African Development.
“Japan has to make compromises in the end, and remove related contents from the draft proposal. Justice naturally inhabits man’s heart. The main task is to improve people’s livelihoods for African countries. Why would some people like to disturb the development in Africa with other regions’ problems and troubles. This is wrong.”
Zhang pointed out that the international community should follow the principles of equality and mutual respect while promoting cooperation with Africa. He called on countries not to impose their wishes on the continent.
He also said China made great achievements in terms of cooperation with Africa, becoming its biggest trade partner. China is welcoming more countries to cooperate with Africa so as to achieve mutual benefit.
