Syria's government and Iran have criticized Turkey for its military incursions into Syrian territory and demanded Ankara respect international law.

Syria's UN envoy,  Bashar Jaafari described Turkey's military incursion into Syria as a violation of Syrian sovereignty -- and stressed that Ankara must coordinate its military efforts with the Syrian army in the future.

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi has also urged Ankara to work with the Syrian government to fight terrorists in Syria. Iran sent an envoy on Tuesday to try to bring Turkey and Syria closer together, amid the ongoing crisis.
