Napoli hosted AC Milan looking for their first win of the season while the visitors were hoping to make it two in a row. After losing Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus in a record transfer, Napoli are in need of some firepower to replace the top scorer in the league last season, and they may have found it in the form of Arkaduisz Milik.
Napoli were held 2-2 at newly promoted Pescara last Sunday. And Poland striker Milik would play a key role in their search for a first win.
In the 18th minute, Dries Mertens would curl a terrific shot onto the post and Milik is in the right place to bundle home the rebound for his first goal since his move from Ajax. 1-nil Napoli.
In the 33rd minute, Milik shows his aerial ability by beating Milan's 17-year-old keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma with a glancing header. Milik looking very good as a replacement for Higuain, as the Pole makes sure the home fans learn his name.
Milan seem to have fought their way back in the second half, when M'Baye Niang delivers with a fine individual effort from a tight angle in the 51st minute.
Then only 4 minutes later, Spanish striker Suso pulls the Rossoneri level with a spectacular curling shot.
But the hosts would right the ship in the 74th minute, as Jose Callejon puts them back in front.
One minute later, Juraj Kucka is sent off after being booked for a push on Mertens and then immediately receiving a second yellow card for swearing at the referee.
It goes from bad to worse for Vincenzo Montella's men in the 87th minute, when Niang is given a second yellow for pushing Napoli keeper Pepe Reina.
Then in the 93rd minute, Alessio Romagnoli turns Lorenzo Insigne's shot into his own goal to complete Milan's misery. And the 21-year-old would get a booking for his desperate dive. 4-2 is the final as Napoli pockets their first win of the season.
